Biodiversity
Biodiversity is the measure of diversity of all life on earth. The higher the diversity, the more species of life that exist in an ecosystem that interact between each other only strengthening the web of life that allows all to thrive.
Genetic Diversity- The more of this diversity the better a species will be able to fight off deseases and develop advantageous adaptations.
Ecosystem Variation- Diversity of ecosystems within a biome, the more diverse a biome is the better chance it stands of staying alive.
Species Diversity- Variety of species in an ecosystem, the more the better an ecosystem can bounce back from any type of damage

Resistance and Resilience
Resistance is the ability for an ecosystem to resist attacks from different threats including climate change, invasive species, decease etc.
Resilience is the ability for an ecosystem to bounce back after it has been damaged in any way.
That is why the more interconnected an ecosystem is, the more it will last and healthier it will be.

Measuring Biodiversity
The more biodiverse an ecosystem the healthier it will overall be. So in order to keep track of progress and damages, scientist have come up with a way to quantify it and assign it a numerical value.
Species Evenness- Amount of different types of species, so one species does not take over
Species Richness- Number of organisms of a single species
A Higher D Value- A more stable ecosystem, more biodiversity
A Lower D Value- A damaged or weakened ecosystem, not much resistance
